The Tohono O'Odham

This book is part of the Native American First Book series. I wrote three books on different tribes, and one about powwows. From the time of its publication, it has been the only book for young people on the Native Americans who were once called “Papago.” I have visited the Tohono O’odham reservations, spoken with its tribal leaders and people, and attended many festivals and ceremonies. The tribe’s importance to the desert culture, and their traditional and modern practices, are featured in this book. It also contains many historical photographs, as well as photographs that I took during my many visits.(Ages 10 and up )
